Tim Nunn has been shooting from the water for years, and there are few people in the industry with a better knowledge of time, space and light than WL’s very own. Tim will guide you through some of the principles and pitfalls of underwater/surf images, and will be dishing out some tips on snapping soulful sunsets and capturing fast moving subjects. Bring your cameras along and Tim will help you get that pro shot!

Tony has joined us from Northern Spain to give you the low down on the science behind forecasting the surf. Learn how to get the swell and the wind spot on so you can score the best waves at the best beach!

Dr. Tony Butt has been surfing since 1972. He is an expert on the scientific aspects of surfing, and has published two books, several book chapters and over 200 magazine articles worldwide. Among other things he forecasts for the internet swell site Wetsand.com. He holds a PhD in Physical Oceanography and worked for seven years as a research fellow with the Coastal Processes Research Group at the University of Plymouth.

This film will be followed by an inspirational talk from Surfers Against Sewage, to help you protect your waves.

GABRIEL DAVIES from Newcastle in the North East of England is Britain’s most successful big wave surfer. After turning professional at the age of 17, Gabriel left the North Sea to embark on a career that has seen him surf across the world. Gabriel has won four British surfing titles, numerous English titles and has represented his nation at the World and European Championships. Moving beyond competition surfing, Gabriel then carved a niche for himself in the challenging pursuit of BIG wave surfing and has divided much of his time between the west coast of Ireland and Hawaii, training to surf waves several storeys high.

While filming Waveriders, Gabriel surfed the biggest wave ever ridden in Ireland and the resulting photograph was nominated for the Billabong XXL Big Wave of the Year Award 2008.

Whether you’re a beginner or expert if you’re thinking about getting a new board and you’ve got a few questions this workshop is for you!!
